आरात तिष्ठत मा मह्यं समीपम उपसर्पत कस्मान मां नाभिजानीत पराप्तं भागीरथी जलम ॥ १-१५८-११ ॥
'Stay at a distance, and do not approach me. Do you not know that I am bathing in the waters of the Bhagirathi?' ॥ 1-158-11 ॥

अङ्गारपर्णं गन्धर्वं वित्तमां सवबलाश्रयम अहं हि मानी चेर्ष्युश च कुबेरस्य परियः सखा ॥ १-१५८-१२ ॥
'Understand that I am Angaraparna, the Gandharva, always reliant on my strength! I am proud and arrogant, and I am the friend of Kubera.' ॥ 1-158-12 ॥

अङ्गारपर्णम इति च खयतं वनम इदं मम अनु गङ्गां च वाकां च चित्रं यत्र वसाम्य अहम ॥ १-१५८-१३ ॥
'This forest of mine on the banks of the Ganga, where I indulge in all my senses, is called Angaraparna after my name.' ॥ 1-158-13 ॥

न कुणपाः शृङ्गिणॊ वा न देवा न च मानुषाः इदं समुपसर्पन्ति तत किं समुपसर्पथ ॥ १-१५८-१४ ॥
'Here, neither gods, nor Kapalikas, nor Gandharvas, nor Yakshas can enter. How dare you approach me, the brightest jewel in Kuvera's diadem?' ॥ 1-158-14 ॥

[आर्ज] समुद्रे हिमवत्पार्श्वे नद्याम अस्यां च दुर्मते रात्राव अहनि संध्यौ च कस्य कॢप्तः परिग्रहः ॥ १-१५८-१५ ॥
'Upon hearing the Gandharva's words, Arjuna replied, "Foolish one, whether it's day, night, or twilight, who can forbid others from accessing the ocean, the foothills of the Himalayas, or this river?"' ॥ 1-158-15 ॥
