आत्मा पुत्रः सखा भार्या कृच्छ्रं तु दुहिता किल स कृच्छ्रान मॊचयात्मानं मां च धर्मेण यॊजय ।। १-१४७-११ ।।

sanskrit

'The son is like one's own self, the wife is like a friend, but the daughter is deemed troublesome. Therefore, save yourself by eliminating this source of trouble, and in doing so, guide me onto the path of virtue.' ।। 1-147-11 ।।

english translation

AtmA putraH sakhA bhAryA kRcchraM tu duhitA kila sa kRcchrAna mòcayAtmAnaM mAM ca dharmeNa yòjaya || 1-147-11 ||

'Father, as a girl without you, I'll be powerless, drowned in sorrow, and forced to wander aimlessly.' ।। 1-147-12 ।।

'For our sake, for the sake of virtue, and for the sake of your lineage, save yourself by leaving me behind, as the time will inevitably come when we must part ways.' ।। 1-147-15 ।।
