इष्टानि चाप्य अपत्यानि दरव्याणि सुहृदः परियाः आपद धर्मविमॊक्षाय भार्या चापि सतां मतम ॥ १-१४६-२६ ॥

sanskrit

'Indeed, children, wealth, and friends are cherished to free oneself from adversity. Thus, it is also the opinion of the virtuous that a wife serves the same purpose.' ॥ 1-146-26 ॥

english translation

iSTAni cApya apatyAni daravyANi suhRdaH pariyAH Apada dharmavimòkSAya bhAryA cApi satAM matama ॥ 1-146-26 ॥
