[बराह्मणी] न संतापस तवया कार्यः पराकृतेनेव कर्हि चित न हि संतापकालॊ ऽयं वैद्यस्य तव विद्यते ॥ १-१४६-१ ॥
'Vaishampayana said, "Upon hearing these words of the Brahmin, his wife responded, 'O Brahmin, you should not grieve like a common person. Nor is this an occasion for lamentation."' ॥ 1-146-1 ॥
english translation
अवश्यं निधनं सर्वैर गन्तव्यम इह मानवैः अवश्य भाविन्य अर्थे वै संतापॊ नेह विद्यते ॥ १-१४६-२ ॥
'Certainly, all humans must inevitably meet death here. There should be no grief over what is bound to happen.' ॥ 1-146-2 ॥
english translation
भार्या पुत्रॊ ऽथ दुहिता सर्वम आत्मार्थम इष्यते वयथां जहि सुबुद्ध्या तवं सवयं यास्यामि तत्र वै ॥ १-१४६-३ ॥
'One seeks a wife, son and daughter for one's benefit. Discard this grief through prudent understanding, as I shall proceed to that place.' ॥ 1-146-3 ॥
english translation
एतद धि परमं नार्याः कार्यं लॊके सनातनम पराणान अपि परित्यज्य यद भर्तृहितम आचरेत ॥ १-१४६-४ ॥
'For it is the supreme, eternal duty of a woman in this world to act for the well-being of her husband, abandoning even her own life if necessary.' ॥ 1-146-4 ॥
english translation
तच च तत्र कृतं कर्म तवापीह सुखावहम भवत्य अमुत्र चाक्षय्यं लॊके ऽसमिंश च यशः करम ॥ १-१४६-५ ॥
'That deed done there will not only bring you joy in this life, but will also result in eternal fame in the next world as well as in this transient world.' ॥ 1-146-5 ॥
