एष चैव गुरुर धर्मॊ यं परवक्षाम्य अहं तव अर्थश च तव धर्मश च भूयान अत्र परदृश्यते ॥ १-१४६-६ ॥

'What I am about to tell you is indeed the highest dharma. In this, your welfare and righteous duty are both distinctly visible.' ॥ 1-146-6 ॥

english translation

eSa caiva gurura dharmò yaM paravakSAmya ahaM tava arthaza ca tava dharmaza ca bhUyAna atra paradRzyate ॥ 1-146-6 ॥

यदर्थम इष्यते भार्या पराप्तः सॊ ऽरथस तवया मयि कन्या चैव कुमारश च कृताहम अनृणा तवया ॥ १-१४६-७ ॥

'For the purpose for which a wife is desired, you have attained that purpose through me. You have both a daughter and a son; I am made free of my debt to you.' ॥ 1-146-7 ॥

english translation

yadarthama iSyate bhAryA parAptaH sò 'rathasa tavayA mayi kanyA caiva kumAraza ca kRtAhama anRNA tavayA ॥ 1-146-7 ॥

समर्थः पॊषणे चासि सुतयॊ रक्षणे तथा न तव अहं सुतयॊः शक्ता तथा रक्षणपॊषणे ॥ १-१४६-८ ॥

'You are capable of both supporting and protecting our children. However, I am not able to support and protect them as well as you can.' ॥ 1-146-8 ॥

samarthaH pòSaNe cAsi sutayò rakSaNe tathA na tava ahaM sutayòH zaktA tathA rakSaNapòSaNe ॥ 1-146-8 ॥

मम हि तवद्विहीनायाः सर्वकामा न आपदः कथं सयातां सुतौ बालौ भवेयं च कथं तव अहम ॥ १-१४६-९ ॥

'For me, being without you, all desires become adversities. How will the two young children be, and how will I be?' ॥ 1-146-9 ॥

english translation

mama hi tavadvihInAyAH sarvakAmA na ApadaH kathaM sayAtAM sutau bAlau bhaveyaM ca kathaM tava ahama ॥ 1-146-9 ॥

कथं हि विधवा नाथा बाल पुत्रा विना तवया मिथुनं जीवयिष्यामि सथिता साधु गते पथि ॥ १-१४६-१० ॥

'Widowed and without a protector, with two children depending on me, how shall I, without you, sustain us and lead an honest life?' ॥ 1-146-10 ॥

kathaM hi vidhavA nAthA bAla putrA vinA tavayA mithunaM jIvayiSyAmi sathitA sAdhu gate pathi ॥ 1-146-10 ॥
