[पौराह] दुर्यॊधन परयुक्तेन पापेनाकृतबुद्धिना गृहम आत्मविनाशाय कारितं दाहितं च यत ॥ १-१३६-११ ॥
'As they watched the house engulfed in flames, the citizens, their faces filled with sorrow, began to comment, "The villainous Purochana, under the instructions of Duryodhana, constructed this house with the intention of harming his employer's relatives."' ॥ 1-136-11 ॥
english translation
अहॊ धिग धृतराष्ट्रस्य बुद्धिर नातिसमञ्जसी यः शुचीन पाण्डवान बालान दाहयाम आस मन्त्रिणा ॥ १-१३६-१२ ॥
'He truly ignited it. Oh, shame on Dhritarashtra's biased heart! He has caused the death of the blameless heirs of Pandu as if they were his enemies!' ॥ 1-136-12 ॥

दिष्ट्या तव इदानीं पापात्मा दग्धॊ ऽयम अतिदुर्मतिः अनागसः सुविश्वस्तान यॊ ददाह नरॊत्तमान ॥ १-१३६-१३ ॥
'Purochana, the sinful and wicked-souled man who had mercilessly burned the innocent and unsuspecting princes, met his own fate as he was consumed by the flames of his own making.' ॥ 1-136-13 ॥

[वै] एवं ते विलपन्ति सम वारणावतका जनाः परिवार्य गृहं तच च तस्थू रात्रौ समन्ततः ॥ १-१३६-१४ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, Thus, the people of Varanavata lamented, Surrounding that house, they stood throughout the night.' ॥ 1-136-14 ॥

पाण्डवाश चापि ते राजन मात्रा सह सुदुःखिताः बिलेन तेन निर्गत्य जग्मुर गूढम अलक्षिताः ॥ १-१३६-१५ ॥
'The Pandavas, O King, along with their mother, deeply distressed, Escaped through that tunnel secretly, unseen by anyone.' ॥ 1-136-15 ॥
