तत्र केच चिद बरुवन्ति सम बराह्मणा निर्भयास तदा शॊचमानाः पाण्डुपुत्रान अतीव भरतर्षभ ॥ १-१३३-६ ॥
'There, some Brahmins, fearless, speaking together, deeply mourned the sons of Pandu, O best of the Bharatas.' ॥ 1-133-6 ॥
english translation
tatra keca cida baruvanti sama barAhmaNA nirbhayAsa tadA zòcamAnAH pANDuputrAna atIva bharatarSabha ॥ 1-133-6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविषमं पश्यते राजा सर्वथा तमसावृतः धृतराष्ट्रः सुदुर्बुद्धिर न च धर्मं परपश्यति ॥ १-१३३-७ ॥
'The king, Dhritarashtra, enshrouded in darkness and of very poor judgment, sees everything as distorted and fails to perceive the path of righteousness.' ॥ 1-133-7 ॥

viSamaM pazyate rAjA sarvathA tamasAvRtaH dhRtarASTraH sudurbuddhira na ca dharmaM parapazyati ॥ 1-133-7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptन हि पापम अपापात्मा रॊचयिष्यति पाण्डवः भीमॊ वा बलिनां शरेष्ठः कौन्तेयॊ वा धनंजयः कुत एव महाप्राज्ञौ माद्रीपुत्रौ करिष्यतः ॥ १-१३३-८ ॥
'The Kuru monarch fails to perceive virtue. Neither the righteous Yudhishthira, the mighty Bhima, or Arjuna, the son of Kunti, would ever sin initiating a rebellious war. If these noble individuals remain silent, how could the illustrious son of Madri act otherwise?' ॥ 1-133-8 ॥

na hi pApama apApAtmA ròcayiSyati pANDavaH bhImò vA balinAM zareSThaH kaunteyò vA dhanaMjayaH kuta eva mahAprAjJau mAdrIputrau kariSyataH ॥ 1-133-8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतद राज्यं पितृतः पराप्तं धृतराष्ट्रॊ न मृष्यते अधर्मम अखिलं किं नु भीष्मॊ ऽयम अनुमन्यते विवास्यमानान अस्थाने कौनेयान भरतर्षभान ॥ १-१३३-९ ॥
'Dhritarashtra inherited the kingdom from his father and cannot tolerate the Pandavas. How can Bhishma, who endures the exile of the Pandavas to that miserable place, condone this grave injustice?' ॥ 1-133-9 ॥
english translation
tada rAjyaM pitRtaH parAptaM dhRtarASTrò na mRSyate adharmama akhilaM kiM nu bhISmò 'yama anumanyate vivAsyamAnAna asthAne kauneyAna bharatarSabhAna ॥ 1-133-9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपितेव हि नृपॊ ऽसमाकम अभूच छांतनवः पुरा विचित्रवीर्यॊ राजर्षिः पाण्डुश च कुरुनन्दनः ॥ १-१३३-१० ॥
'For indeed, our father, the king of old, was like a haven to us. Pandu, the delight of the Kurus, was a king of remarkable valor and virtue.' ॥ 1-133-10 ॥
