दरिद्राय हि मे भार्यां कॊ दास्यति विशेषतः परतिग्रहीष्ये भिक्षां तु यदि कश चित परदास्यति ॥ १-१३-२६ ॥
'Especially for a poor man like me, who would willingly offer his daughter in marriage? I will accept alms if someone is willing to give them voluntarily.'॥ 1-13-26 ॥
english translation
daridrAya hi me bhAryAM kò dAsyati vizeSataH paratigrahISye bhikSAM tu yadi kaza cita paradAsyati ॥ 1-13-26 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएवं दारक्रिया हेतॊः परयतिष्ये पितामहाः अनेन विधिना शश्वन न करिष्ये ऽहम अन्यथा ॥ १-१३-२७ ॥
'Considering the reason for marriage in this way, I shall strive to fulfill your wishes,I shall not act otherwise in this matter.'॥ 1-13-27 ॥
english translation
evaM dArakriyA hetòH parayatiSye pitAmahAH anena vidhinA zazvana na kariSye 'hama anyathA ॥ 1-13-27 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतत्र चॊत्पत्स्यते जन्तुर भवतां तारणाय वै शाश्वतं सथानम आसाद्य मॊदन्तां पितरॊ मम ॥ १-१३-२८ ॥
'Upon her, I will raise progeny for the salvation of your lineage, so that, O fathers, you may attain eternal realms of bliss and rejoice as you wish.'॥ 1-13-28 ॥
english translation
tatra còtpatsyate jantura bhavatAM tAraNAya vai zAzvataM sathAnama AsAdya mòdantAM pitarò mama ॥ 1-13-28 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscript[स] ततॊ निवेशाय तदा स विप्रः संशितव्रतः महीं चचार दारार्थी न च दारान अविन्दत ॥ १-१३-२९ ॥
'Sauti said, 'That Brahmana of rigid vows then wandered over the earth for a wife but a wife found he not.'॥ 1-13-29 ॥
english translation
[sa] tatò nivezAya tadA sa vipraH saMzitavrataH mahIM cacAra dArArthI na ca dArAna avindata ॥ 1-13-29 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस कदा चिद वनं गत्वा विप्रः पितृवचः समरन चुक्रॊश कन्या भिक्षार्थी तिस्रॊ वाचः शनैर इव ॥ १-१३-३० ॥
'One day he went into the forest, and recollecting the words of his ancestors, he thrice prayed in a faint voice for a bride.'॥ 1-13-30 ॥

sa kadA cida vanaM gatvA vipraH pitRvacaH samarana cukròza kanyA bhikSArthI tisrò vAcaH zanaira iva ॥ 1-13-30 ॥
