तं वासुकिः परत्यगृह्णाद उद्यम्य भगिनीं तदा न स तां परतिजग्राह न सनाम्नीति चिन्तयन ॥ १-१३-३१ ॥
'Upon this, Vasuki graciously presented his sister to the sage for marriage. However, the Brahmana, having reservations, hesitated to accept her, considering that her name might not be the same as his own.'॥ 1-13-31 ॥
english translation
सनाम्नीम उद्यतां भार्यां गृह्णीयाम इति तस्य हि मनॊ निविष्टम अभवज जरत्कारॊर महात्मनः ॥ १-१३-३२ ॥
'With the thought, "Let me accept a wife named Sanamni," Vasuki's sister, the great-minded Jaratkaru, found a place in his heart.'॥ 1-13-32 ॥
english translation
तम उवाच महाप्राज्ञॊ जरत्कारुर महातपाः किंनाम्नी भगिनीयं ते बरूहि सत्यं भुजंगम ॥ १-१३-३३ ॥
'Thus, the sage of profound wisdom and rigorous penance inquired, "O serpent, reveal the true name of your sister."'॥ 1-13-33 ॥
english translation
[वा] जरत्कारॊ जरत्कारुः सवसेयम अनुजा मम तवदर्थं रक्षिता पूर्वं परतीच्छेमां दविजॊत्तम ॥ १-१३-३४ ॥
'Jaratkaru replied, "O best of Brahmanas, my sister's name is Jaratkaru, the same as mine. Previously, she had protected herself for your sake, O eminent sage. Now, I wish to bestow her upon you."'॥ 1-13-34 ॥
english translation
[स] मात्रा हि भुजगाः शप्ताः पूर्वं बरह्म विदां वर जनमेजयस्य वॊ यज्ञे धक्ष्यत्य अनिलसारथिः ॥ १-१३-३५ ॥
'Ruru said, "O best among the twice-born, the serpents were cursed only by their mother. Without any desire for revenge, I will protect them in the sacrifice of Janamejaya."'॥ 1-13-35 ॥
