अर्जुनेति जनः कश चित काश चित कर्णेति भारत कश चिद दुर्यॊधनेत्य एवं बरुवन्तः परथितास तदा ॥ १-१२७-२१ ॥
'And as the crowd dispersed, some hailed Arjuna, others Karna, and yet others named Duryodhana as the victor of the day.' ॥ 1-127-21 ॥
english translation
कुन्त्याश च परत्यभिज्ञाय दिव्यलक्षणसूचितम पुत्रम अङ्गेश्वरं सनेहाच छन्ना परीतिर अवर्धत ॥ १-१२७-२२ ॥
'Upon recognizing her son Karna through the auspicious marks on his person and witnessing his installation as the ruler of Anga, Kunti felt immense joy out of motherly affection.' ॥ 1-127-22 ॥
english translation
दुर्यॊधनस्यापि तदा कर्णम आसाद्य पार्थिव भयम अर्जुन सांजातं कषिप्रम अन्तरधीयत ॥ १-१२७-२३ ॥
'And Duryodhana, O King, having gained Karna as an ally, quickly dispelled his fears regarding Arjuna's prowess in arms.' ॥ 1-127-23 ॥

स चापि वीरः कृतशस्त्रनिश्रमः; परेण साम्नाभ्यवदत सुयॊधनम युधिष्ठिरस्याप्य अभवत तदा मतिर; न कर्ण तुल्यॊ ऽसति धनुर्धरः कषितौ ॥ १-१२७-२४ ॥
'He was indeed a brave warrior, skilled in warfare. Yet, he respected Duryodhana's command and became an ally. Even Yudhishthira acknowledged his prowess. There was no equal to Karna in wielding the bow on the battlefield.' ॥ 1-127-24 ॥
