धन्या तवम असि बाह्लीकि मत्तॊ भाग्यतरा तथा दृष्टवत्य असि यद वक्त्रं परहृष्टस्य महीपतेः ॥ १-११६-२१ ॥
'Fortunate are you, O princess of Valhika, indeed more blessed. For you have seen the face of the king filled with overwhelming joy.' ॥ 1-116-21 ॥
english translation
dhanyA tavama asi bAhlIki mattò bhAgyatarA tathA dRSTavatya asi yada vaktraM parahRSTasya mahIpateH ॥ 1-116-21 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscript[म] विलॊभ्यमानेन मया वार्यमाणेन चासकृत आत्मा न वारितॊ ऽनेन सत्यं दिष्टं चिकीर्षुणा ॥ १-११६-२२ ॥
'Madri then responded, saying, "Honored sister, with tears in my eyes, I resisted the king, but he could not restrain himself, seemingly intent on fulfilling Rishi's curse."' ॥ 1-116-22 ॥

[ma] vilòbhyamAnena mayA vAryamANena cAsakRta AtmA na vAritò 'nena satyaM diSTaM cikIrSuNA ॥ 1-116-22 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscript[क] अहं जयेष्ठा धर्मपत्नी जयेष्ठं धर्मफलं मम अवश्यं भाविनॊ भावान मा मां माद्रि निवर्तय ॥ १-११६-२३ ॥
'Kunti then declared, 'As the senior among his wedded wives, the principal religious merit rightfully belongs to me. Therefore, O Madri, do not hinder me from attaining what is rightfully mine.'' ॥ 1-116-23 ॥

[ka] ahaM jayeSThA dharmapatnI jayeSThaM dharmaphalaM mama avazyaM bhAvinò bhAvAna mA mAM mAdri nivartaya ॥ 1-116-23 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअन्वेष्यामीह भर्तारम अहं परेतवशं गतम उत्तिष्ठ तवं विसृज्यैनम इमान रक्षस्व दारकान ॥ १-११६-२४ ॥
'I must accompany our lord to the realm of the departed. Stand up, Madri, and hand over his body to me. Take care of these children.' ॥ 1-116-24 ॥

anveSyAmIha bhartArama ahaM paretavazaM gatama uttiSTha tavaM visRjyainama imAna rakSasva dArakAna ॥ 1-116-24 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscript[म] अहम एवानुयास्यामि भर्तारम अपलायिनम न हि तृप्तास्मि कामानां तज जयेष्ठा अनुमन्यताम ॥ १-११६-२५ ॥
'Madri replied, "I still hold onto our lord and have not let him depart; thus, I shall follow him. My desires have not been fulfilled. You are my elder sister, so please grant me your approval."' ॥ 1-116-25 ॥
