[मृग] न रिपून वै समुद्दिश्य विमुञ्चन्ति पुरा शरान रन्ध्र एषां विशेषेण वधकालः परशस्यते ॥ १-१०९-१६ ॥

sanskrit

'The deer then spoke, "O king, men do not release their arrows at their enemies when they are unprepared. But there is a designated time for it, namely after the declaration of hostilities. Therefore, killing at such a time is not to be condemned."' ॥ 1-109-16 ॥

english translation

[mRga] na ripUna vai samuddizya vimuJcanti purA zarAna randhra eSAM vizeSeNa vadhakAlaH parazasyate ॥ 1-109-16 ॥
