एतद विद्वन यथावृत्थं विस्तरेण तपॊधन कथयस्व न मे तृप्तिः कथ्यमानेषु बन्धुषु ॥ १-१०७-६ ॥
'Please narrate to me all of this in detail, as my desire to learn everything about my ancestors remains unquenched.' ॥ 1-107-6 ॥

[व] कषुच छरमाभिपरिग्लानं दवैपायनम उपस्थितम तॊषयाम आस गान्धारी वयासस तस्यै वरं ददौ ॥ १-१०७-७ ॥
'Vaisampayana narrated, "Once, Gandhari welcomed the illustrious Dwaipayana at her dwelling, attending to him with due respect as he arrived, wearied from hunger and exhaustion. Pleased with her hospitality, the sage bestowed upon her the boon she desired: a hundred sons, each mirroring her husband in strength and prowess."' ॥ 1-107-7 ॥

सा वव्रे सदृशं भर्तुः पुत्राणां शतम आत्मनः ततः कालेन सा गर्भं धृतराष्ट्राद अथाग्रहीत ॥ १-१०७-८ ॥
'She chose for herself a hundred sons, each resembling her husband. After some time, she indeed conceived from Dhritarashtra.' ॥ 1-107-8 ॥

संवत्सरद्वयं तं तु गान्धारी गर्भम आहितम अप्रजा धारयाम आस ततस तां दुःखम आविशत ॥ १-१०७-९ ॥
'She endured the pregnancy for two lengthy years without childbirth, which brought her significant anguish.' ॥ 1-107-9 ॥

शरुत्वा कुन्तीसुतं जातं बालार्कसमतेजसम उदरस्यात्मनः सथैर्यम उपलभ्यान्वचिन्तयत ॥ १-१०७-१० ॥
'Upon hearing about the birth of the son of Kunti, who shone like the sun, and having perceived his steady courage within her own womb, she began to ponder.' ॥ 1-107-10 ॥
