तेषु लीनेष्व अथॊ शीघ्रं ततस तद रक्षिणां बलम आजगाम ततॊ ऽपश्यंस तम ऋषिं तस्करानुगाः ॥ १-१०१-६ ॥

'But scarcely had they thus concealed themselves when the constables in pursuit came to the spot. The latter, observing the Rishi sitting under the tree, questioned him.' ॥ 1-101-6 ॥

english translation

teSu lIneSva athò zIghraM tatasa tada rakSiNAM balama AjagAma tatò 'pazyaMsa tama RSiM taskarAnugAH ॥ 1-101-6 ॥

तम अपृच्छंस ततॊ राजंस तथा वृत्तं तपॊधनम कतरेण पथा याता दस्यवॊ दविजसत्तम तेन गच्छामहे बरह्मन पथा शीघ्रतरं वयम ॥ १-१०१-७ ॥

'Addressing the sage respectfully, the king asked, "O venerable Brahmana, which direction did the thieves take? Please guide us swiftly so that we may pursue them without delay."' ॥ 1-101-7 ॥

tama apRcchaMsa tatò rAjaMsa tathA vRttaM tapòdhanama katareNa pathA yAtA dasyavò davijasattama tena gacchAmahe barahmana pathA zIghrataraM vayama ॥ 1-101-7 ॥

तथा तु रक्षिणां तेषां बरुवतां स तपॊधनः न किं चिद वचनं राजन्न अवदत साध्व असाधु वा ॥ १-१०१-८ ॥

'When questioned by the guardians of peace in this manner, O king, the ascetic remained silent, offering neither a good nor a bad response.' ॥ 1-101-8 ॥

tathA tu rakSiNAM teSAM baruvatAM sa tapòdhanaH na kiM cida vacanaM rAjanna avadata sAdhva asAdhu vA ॥ 1-101-8 ॥

ततस ते राजपुरुषा विचिन्वानास तदाश्रमम ददृशुस तत्र संलीनांस तांश चॊरान दरव्यम एव च ॥ १-१०१-९ ॥

'After that, the men from the king's entourage began searching the hermitage, where they found the thieves hiding among the trees, and their stolen goods nearby.' ॥ 1-101-9 ॥

tatasa te rAjapuruSA vicinvAnAsa tadAzramama dadRzusa tatra saMlInAMsa tAMza còrAna daravyama eva ca ॥ 1-101-9 ॥

ततः शङ्का समभवद रक्षिणां तं मुनिं परति संयम्यैनं ततॊ राज्ञे दस्यूंश चैव नयवेदयन ॥ १-१०१-१० ॥

'Upon this, their suspicion fell upon the Muni, and accordingly, they seized him with the thieves and brought him before the king.' ॥ 1-101-10 ॥
