सूत उवाच । आद्यं पुरुषम ईशानं पुरुहूतं पुरु षटुतम ऋतम एकाक्षरं बरह्म वयक्ताव्यक्तं सनातनम ॥ १-१-२०॥

sanskrit

'Brahma, the perceptible and imperceptible, the eternal essence; simultaneously existing and non-existing, encompassing the universe yet transcending the boundaries of the existing and non-existing cosmos.' ॥ 1-1-20 ॥

english translation

sUta uvAca । AdyaM puruSama IzAnaM puruhUtaM puru SaTutama Rtama ekAkSaraM barahma vayaktAvyaktaM sanAtanama ॥ 1-1-20॥
