शॊच्या गान्धारी पुत्रपौत्रैर विहीना; तथा वध्वः पितृभिर भरातृभिश च कृतं कार्यं दुष्करं पाण्डवेयैः; पराप्तं राज्यम असपत्नं पुनस तैः ॥ १-१-१५७ ॥
'Alas! Gandhari, destitute of children, grandchildren, parents, brothers, and kindred, is to be pitied. Difficult is the task that hath been performed by the Pandavas: by them hath a kingdom been recovered without a rival.' ॥ 1-1-157 ॥
