यदाश्रौषं कलहद्यूतमूलं; मायाबलं सौबलं पाण्डवेन हतं संग्रामे सहदेवेन पापं; तदा नाशंसे विजयाय संजय ॥ १-१-१४९ ॥

'When I heard that the wicked Shakuni of magic power, the root of the gaming and the feud, was slain in battle by Sahadeva, the son of Pandu, O Sanjaya, I had no hope of success.' ॥ 1-1-149 ॥

english translation

yadAzrauSaM kalahadyUtamUlaM; mAyAbalaM saubalaM pANDavena hataM saMgrAme sahadevena pApaM; tadA nAzaMse vijayAya saMjaya ॥ 1-1-149 ॥
