यदाश्रौषं विविधास तात चेष्टा; धर्मात्मनां परस्थितानां वनाय जयेष्ठप्रीत्या कलिश्यतां पाण्डवानां; तदा नाशंसे विजयाय संजय ।। १-१-१०७ ।।

'When I heard that the virtuous Pandavas weeping with affliction had followed their elder brother to the wilderness and exerted themselves variously for the mitigation of his discomforts, then, O Sanjaya, I had no hope of success. ' ।। 1-1-107 ।।

english translation

yadAzrauSaM vividhAsa tAta ceSTA; dharmAtmanAM parasthitAnAM vanAya jayeSThaprItyA kalizyatAM pANDavAnAM; tadA nAzaMse vijayAya saMjaya || 1-1-107 ||
