तयजेच च पृथिवी गन्धम आपश च रसम आत्मनः जयॊतिस तथा तयजेद रूपं वायुः सपर्शगुणं तयजेत ॥ १-९७-१६ ॥
'The earth may renounce its scent, water its moisture, light its attribute of exhibiting forms, and air its attribute of touch.' ॥ 1-97-16 ॥

परभां समुत्सृजेद अर्कॊ धूमकेतुस तथॊष्णताम तयजेच छब्दम अथाकाशः सॊमः शीतांशुतां तयजेत ॥ १-९७-१७ ॥
'The sun may renounce its radiance, a comet its heat, space may renounce sound, and the moon may renounce its coolness.' ॥ 1-97-17 ॥

विक्रमं वृत्रहा जह्याद धर्मं जह्याच च धर्मराट न तव अहं सत्यम उत्स्रष्टुं वयवसेयं कथं चन ॥ १-९७-१८ ॥
'Indra may renounce his valor, the king of righteousness may forsake dharma, but I cannot resolve to abandon truth under any circumstances.' ॥ 1-97-18 ॥

एवम उक्ता तु पुत्रेण भूरि दरविण तेजसा माता सत्यवती भीष्मम उवाच तदनन्तरम ॥ १-९७-१९ ॥
'Thus addressed by her son endued with wealth of energy, Satyavati said unto Bhishma.' ॥ 1-97-19 ॥

जानामि ते सथितिं सत्ये परां सत्यपराक्रम इच्छन सृजेथास तरीँल लॊकान अन्यांस तवं सवेन तेजसा ॥ १-९७-२० ॥
'O embodiment of truth and valor, I understand your unwavering commitment to truth. With your power, if you wish, you could create three other worlds.' ॥ 1-97-20 ॥
