सनुषा इव स धर्मात्मा भगिन्य इव चानुजाः यथा दुहितरश चैव परतिगृह्य ययौ कुरून ॥ १-९६-४४ ॥

sanskrit

'The righteous Bhishma treated them as if they were his daughters, sisters, and younger siblings, accepting them with all due respect before proceeding to the land of the Kurus.' ॥ 1-96-44 ॥

english translation

sanuSA iva sa dharmAtmA bhaginya iva cAnujAH yathA duhitaraza caiva paratigRhya yayau kurUna ॥ 1-96-44 ॥
