उच्चैःश्रवा भद्र कारॊ जितारिश चाष्टमः समृतः एतेषाम अन्ववाये तु खयातास ते कर्मजैर गुणैः ।। १-८९-४६ ।।

sanskrit

'Ucchaihsrava, Bhadra, Karo, and the eighth, Jitari, are remembered in their lineage. These individuals are renowned for their deeds and virtues in their lineage.' ।। 1-89-46 ।।

english translation

uccaiHzravA bhadra kArò jitAriza cASTamaH samRtaH eteSAma anvavAye tu khayAtAsa te karmajaira guNaiH || 1-89-46 ||

जनमेजयादयः सप्त तथैवान्ये महाबलाः परिक्षितॊ ऽभवन पुत्राः सर्वे धर्मार्थकॊविदाः ।। १-८९-४७ ।।

sanskrit

'Janamejaya and others, seven in number, along with other mighty individuals, were also among them. Parikshit, in particular, had sons who were all knowledgeable in matters of righteousness and wealth.' ।। 1-89-47 ।।

english translation

janamejayAdayaH sapta tathaivAnye mahAbalAH parikSitò 'bhavana putrAH sarve dharmArthakòvidAH || 1-89-47 ||

कक्षसेनॊग्र सेनौ च चित्रसेनश च वीर्यवान इन्द्रसेनः सुषेणश च भीमसेनश च नामतः ।। १-८९-४८ ।।

sanskrit

'And unto Parikshit were born sons who were all acquainted with (the secrets of) religion and profit. And they were named Kakshasena and Ugrasena, and Chitrasena endued with great energy, and Indrasena and Sushena and Bhimasena.' ।। 1-89-48 ।।

english translation

kakSasenògra senau ca citrasenaza ca vIryavAna indrasenaH suSeNaza ca bhImasenaza ca nAmataH || 1-89-48 ||

जनमेजयस्य तनया भुवि खयाता महाबलाः धृतराष्ट्रः परथमजः पाण्डुर बाह्लीक एव च ।। १-८९-४९ ।।

sanskrit

'And the sons of Janamejaya were all endued with great strength and became celebrated all over the world. And they were Dhritarashtra who was the eldest, and Pandu and Valhika.' ।। 1-89-49 ।।

english translation

janamejayasya tanayA bhuvi khayAtA mahAbalAH dhRtarASTraH parathamajaH pANDura bAhlIka eva ca || 1-89-49 ||

निषधश च महातेजास तथा जाम्बूनदॊ बली कुण्डॊदरः पदातिश च वसातिश चाष्टमः समृतः सर्वे धर्मार्थकुशलाः सर्वे भूतिहिते रताः ।। १-८९-५० ।।

sanskrit

'Following them were Nishadha, possessing immense strength, then the powerful Jamvunada, followed by Kundodara and Padati, and finally Vasati, the eighth. They were all adept in righteousness and wealth, and they showed kindness to all beings.' ।। 1-89-50 ।।

english translation

niSadhaza ca mahAtejAsa tathA jAmbUnadò balI kuNDòdaraH padAtiza ca vasAtiza cASTamaH samRtaH sarve dharmArthakuzalAH sarve bhUtihite ratAH || 1-89-50 ||
