सुहॊत्रश च सुहॊता च सुहविः सुयजुस तथा पुष्करिण्याम ऋचीकस्य भुमन्यॊर अभवन सुताः ।। १-८९-२१ ।।

sanskrit

'Suhota, Suhota's brother, and Suyaja, as well as Ruchika's offspring, were born to Bhumanyu in Pushkarini.' ।। 1-89-21 ।।

english translation

suhòtraza ca suhòtA ca suhaviH suyajusa tathA puSkariNyAma RcIkasya bhumanyòra abhavana sutAH || 1-89-21 ||

'And during the virtuous reign of Suhotra the surface of the whole earth was dotted all over with hundreds and thousands, of sacrificial stakes.' ।। 1-89-22 ।।

'Suhotra ruled over the entire earth, adorned with the oceans, complete with elephants, cows, and horses, and filled with many jewels.' ।। 1-89-23 ।।

'Indeed, the earth groaned under the heavy burden of his care, filled as it was with elephants, horses, chariots, and heavily populated with human beings.' ।। 1-89-24 ।।

'When Suhotra was the king, he ruled his subjects righteously. The earth was marked with hundreds of thousands of sacrificial posts and altars (chaityas and yūpas), flourishing with an increased population and grain. Together with the gods, the earth shone brightly, thriving under his just reign.' ।। 1-89-25 ।।

suhòtre rAjani tadA dharmataH zAsati parajAH caityayUpAGkitA cAsIda bhUmiH zatasahasrazaH paravRddhajanasasyA ca sahadevA vayaròcata || 1-89-25 ||
