शरभः शलभश चैव सूर्या चन्द्रमसौ तथा इति खयाता दनॊर वंशे दानवाः परिकीर्तिताः अन्यौ तु खलु देवानां सूर्यचन्द्रमसौ समृतौ ॥ १-५९-२६ ॥
'Sharabha and Shalabha, as well as Surya and Chandra, Thus renowned in the lineage of Danu, the demons are celebrated.While the other two, indeed, are considered among the gods, the Sun and the Moon.' ॥ 1-59-26 ॥
english translation
इमे च वंशे परथिताः सत्त्ववन्तॊ महाबलाः दनु पुत्रा महाराज दश दानव पुङ्गवाः ॥ १-५९-२७ ॥
'These, in the lineage of Danu, are well-known, Powerful, and endowed with strength, O great king! The sons of Danu, O mighty ruler, are the foremost among the Danavas, the ten formidable demons' ॥ 1-59-27 ॥
english translation
एकाक्षॊ मृतपा वीरः परलम्बनरकाव अपि वातापिः शत्रुतपनः शठश चैव महासुरः ॥ १-५९-२८ ॥
'Ekaksha is the Single-Eyed, Mrityapa is the Bringer of Death, Virah is the Hero, Paralambanarakav is the One Roaming in Hell. Vatapi is the Wind, Shatrutapanah is the Enemy Scorcher, Shathah is the Cunning and a great demon.' ॥ 1-59-28 ॥

गविष्ठश च दनायुश च दीर्घजिह्वश च दानवः असंख्येयाः समृतास तेषां पुत्राः पौत्राश च भारत ॥ १-५९-२९ ॥
'Gavishtha, and Vanayu, and the Danava called Dirghajiva. And, O Bharata, these sons and grandsons were known to be countless.' ॥ 1-59-29 ॥
english translation
सिंहिका सुषुवे पुत्रं राहुं चन्द्रार्कमर्दनम सुचन्द्रं चन्द्र हन्तारं तथा चन्द्र विमर्दनम ॥ १-५९-३० ॥
'And Sinhika gave birth to Rahu, the Sun and Moon persecutor, and to three others, Suchandra, Chandrahantri, and Chandrapramardana.' ॥ 1-59-30 ॥
