ततॊ निमित्ते कस्मिंश चिद धर्मराजॊ युधिष्ठिरः वनं परस्थापयाम आस भरातरं वै धनंजयम ॥ १-५५-३१ ॥
'Then, for some reason, Yudhishthira the just, gifted with great energy and prowess, sent his brother Arjuna who was capable of drawing the bow with the left hand, dearer unto him than life itself, into the woods.' ॥ 1-55-31 ॥
english translation
स वै संवत्सरं पूर्णं मासं चैकं वने ऽवसत ततॊ ऽगच्छद धृषीकेशं दवारवत्यां कदा चन ॥ १-५५-३२ ॥
'And Arjuna, that tiger among men, of firm soul, and gifted with every virtue, lived in the woods for eleven years and months. And during this period, on a certain occasion, Arjuna went to Krishna in Dwaravati.' ॥ 1-55-32 ॥

लब्धवांस तत्र बीभत्सुर भार्यां राजीवलॊचनाम अनुजां वासुदेवस्य सुभद्रां भद्र भाषिणीम ॥ १-५५-३३ ॥
'And Vibhatsu (Arjuna) there obtained for a wife the lotus-eyed and sweet speeched younger sister of Vasudeva, Subhadra by name.' ॥ 1-55-33 ॥

सा शचीव महेन्द्रेण शरीः कृष्णेनेव संगता सुभद्रा युयुजे परीता पाण्डवेनार्जुनेन ह ॥ १-५५-३४ ॥
'Subhadra, having united herself with Arjuna, embraced him like Shachi (Indra's consort) with Mahendra (Indra) himself, as if Krishna had become one with Arjuna.' ॥ 1-55-34 ॥

अतर्पयच च कौन्तेयः खाण्डवे हव्यवाहनम बीभत्सुर वासुदेवेन सहितॊ नृपसत्तम ॥ १-५५-३५ ॥
'And then, O best of monarchs, Arjuna, the son of Kunti, with Vasudeva, gratified Agni; the carrier of the sacrificial butter, in the forest of Khandava (by burning the medicinal plants in that woods to cure Agni of his indigestion).' ॥ 1-55-35 ॥
