तत्र ते नयवसन राजन संवत्सरगणान बहून वशे शस्त्रप्रतापेन कुर्वन्तॊ ऽनयान महीक्षितः ॥ १-५५-२६ ॥
'And the sons of Pritha dwelt there for many years. And they brought, by force of arms, many a prince under their subjection.' ॥ 1-55-26 ॥
english translation
एवं धर्मप्रधानास ते सत्यव्रतपरायणाः अप्रमत्तॊत्थिताः कषान्ताः परतपन्तॊ ऽहितांस तदा ॥ १-५५-२७ ॥
'And thus, setting their hearts on virtue and firmly adhering to truth, unruffled by affluence, calm in deportment, and putting down numerous evils, the Pandavas gradually rose to power.' ॥ 1-55-27 ॥
english translation
अजयद भीमसेनस तु दिशं पराचीं महाबलः उदीचीम अर्जुनॊ वीरः परतीचीं नकुलस तथा ॥ १-५५-२८ ॥
'And Bhima of great reputation subjugated the East, the heroic Arjuna, the North, Nakula, the West.' ॥ 1-55-28 ॥
english translation
दक्षिणां सहदेवस तु विजिग्ये परवीरहा एवं चक्रुर इमां सर्वे वशे कृत्स्नां वसुंधराम ॥ १-५५-२९ ॥
'Sahadeva that slayer of all hostile heroes, the South. And this having been done, their domination was spread over the whole world.' ॥ 1-55-29 ॥
english translation
पञ्चभिः सूर्यसंकाशैः सूर्येण च विराजता षट सूर्येवाबभौ पृथ्वी पाण्डवैः सत्यविक्रमैः ॥ १-५५-३० ॥
'And with the five Pandavas, each like unto the Sun, the Earth looked as if she had six Suns.' ॥ 1-55-30 ॥
