कामं च मम न नयाय्यं परष्टुं तवां कार्यम ईदृशम किं तु कार्यगरीयस्त्वात ततस तवाहम अचूचुदम ॥ १-४४-६ ॥
'It is not proper for me to express my desires openly, but your action in this manner is not appropriate. However, what needs to be done is in your hands, and based on that, I express my opinion.' ॥ 1-44-6 ॥
english translation
दुर्वासतां विदित्वा च भर्तुस ते ऽतितपस्विनः नैनम अन्वागमिष्यामि कदाचिद धि शपेत स माम ॥ १-४४-७ ॥
'Understanding the steadfastness of your husband, who is constantly immersed in rigorous penance, I will not pursue him, as there is a possibility of him casting a curse upon me.' ॥ 1-44-7 ॥

आचक्ष्व भद्रे भर्तुस तवं सर्वम एव विचेष्टितम शल्यम उद्धर मे घॊरं भद्रे हृदि चिरस्थितम ॥ १-४४-८ ॥
'O amiable one, please provide me with a detailed account of all that your husband has done. And kindly remove that agonizing thorn that has been lodged in my heart for an extended period.' ॥ 1-44-8 ॥

जरत्कारुस ततॊ वाक्यम इत्य उक्ता परत्यभाषत आश्वासयन्ती संतप्तं वासुकिं पन्नगेश्वरम ॥ १-४४-९ ॥
'Jaratkaru's wife, having spoken these words, then addressed Vasuki, the lord of serpents, comforting him who was distressed.' ॥ 1-44-9 ॥

पृष्टॊ मयापत्य हेतॊः स महात्मा महातपाः अस्तीत्य उदरम उद्दिश्य ममेदं गतवांश च सः ॥ १-४४-१० ॥
'When I inquired about progeny, the noble and powerful ascetic replied, 'It exists,' and then he departed.' ॥ 1-44-10 ॥
