एवम उक्तः स भगवाञ जरत्कारुर महातपाः भार्यां परस्फुरमाणौष्ठ इदं वचनम अब्रवीत ॥ १-४३-२१ ॥
'The illustrious Jaratkaru of great ascetic merit, thus addressed, spake unto his wife these words, his upper lip quivering in anger.' ॥ 1-43-21 ॥
english translation
अवमानः परयुक्तॊ ऽयं तवया मम भुजंगमे समीपे ते न वत्स्यामि गमिष्यामि यथागतम ॥ १-४३-२२ ॥
'O amiable one of the Naga lineage, you have insulted me. I shall no longer stay with you; instead, I will return to whence I came.' ॥ 1-43-22 ॥
english translation
न हि तेजॊ ऽसति वामॊरु मयि सुप्ते विभावसॊः अस्तं गन्तुं यथाकालम इति मे हृदि वर्तते ॥ १-४३-२३ ॥
'O possessor of beautiful thighs, I am convinced in my heart that if I am asleep, the sun has no power to set at its usual time.' ॥ 1-43-23 ॥
english translation
न चाप्य अवमतस्येह वस्तुं रॊचेत कस्य चित किं पुनर धर्मशीलस्य मम वा मद्विधस्य वा ॥ १-४३-२४ ॥
'A person who has been insulted should never dwell in the location of the offense; and, especially, I, as a virtuous individual, and those similar to me, ought not to remain in such a place.' ॥ 1-43-24 ॥

एवम उक्ता जरत्कारुर भर्त्रा हृदयकम्पनम अब्रवीद भगिनी तत्र वासुकेः संनिवेशने ॥ १-४३-२५ ॥
'Jaratkaru, the sister of Vasuki, thus addressed by her lord, began to quake with terror, and she spake unto him.' ॥ 1-43-25 ॥
