तं दग्ध्वा स नगं नागः कश्यपं पुनर अब्रवीत कुरु यत्नं दविजश्रेष्ठ जीवयैनं वनस्पतिम ॥ १-३९-६ ॥

'And having burnt the banian so, the snake then spake again unto Kasyapa, saying, 'O first of Brahmanas, try thy best and revive this lord of the forest.' ॥ 1-39-6 ॥

english translation

taM dagdhvA sa nagaM nAgaH kazyapaM punara abravIta kuru yatnaM davijazreSTha jIvayainaM vanaspatima ॥ 1-39-6 ॥

भस्मीभूतं ततॊ वृक्षं पन्नगेन्द्रस्य तेजसा भस्म सर्वं समाहृत्य काश्यपॊ वाक्यम अब्रवीत ॥ १-३९-७ ॥

'Sauti continued, 'The poison of the king of snakes reduced the tree to ashes. However, Kasyapa, picking up those ashes, spoke the following words:' ॥ 1-39-7 ॥

bhasmIbhUtaM tatò vRkSaM pannagendrasya tejasA bhasma sarvaM samAhRtya kAzyapò vAkyama abravIta ॥ 1-39-7 ॥

विद्या बलं पन्नगेन्द्रपश्य मे ऽसमिन वनस्पतौ अहं संजीवयाम्य एनं पश्यतस ते भुजंगम ॥ १-३९-८ ॥

'O king of serpents, witness the potency of my knowledge in restoring this ruler of the forest! Right before you, O snake, I shall bring it back to life.' ॥ 1-39-8 ॥

vidyA balaM pannagendrapazya me 'samina vanaspatau ahaM saMjIvayAmya enaM pazyatasa te bhujaMgama ॥ 1-39-8 ॥

ततः स भगवान विद्वान काश्यपॊ दविजसत्तमः भस्मराशीकृतं वृक्षं विद्यया समजीवयत ॥ १-३९-९ ॥

'And then that best of Brahmanas, the illustrious and learned Kasyapa, revived, by his vidya, that tree which had been reduced to a heap of ashes.' ॥ 1-39-9 ॥

tataH sa bhagavAna vidvAna kAzyapò davijasattamaH bhasmarAzIkRtaM vRkSaM vidyayA samajIvayata ॥ 1-39-9 ॥

अङ्कुरं तं स कृतवांस ततः पर्णद्वयान्वितम पलाशिनं शाखिनं च तथा विटपिनं पुनः ॥ १-३९-१० ॥

'And first he created the sprout, then he furnished it with two leaves, and then he made the stem, and then the branches, and then the full-grown tree with leaves and all.' ॥ 1-39-10 ॥
