तस्येदं मानसं शल्यं समुद्धर्तुं तवम अर्हसि जनन्याः शापजं देव जञातीनां हितकाङ्क्षिणः ॥ १-३५-६ ॥

'It is fitting for you to alleviate the sorrow that has arisen from the curse of his mother, which has deeply affected Vasuki, who is earnestly seeking the well-being of his lineage.' ॥ 1-35-6 ॥

english translation

tasyedaM mAnasaM zalyaM samuddhartuM tavama arhasi jananyAH zApajaM deva jaJAtInAM hitakAGkSiNaH ॥ 1-35-6 ॥

हितॊ हय अयं सदास्माकं परियकारी च नागराट कुरु परसादं देवेश शमयास्य मनॊ जवरम ॥ १-३५-७ ॥

'The king of the snakes is ever our friend and benefactor. O Lord of the gods, be gracious unto him and assuage his mind's fever.' ॥ 1-35-7 ॥

hitò haya ayaM sadAsmAkaM pariyakArI ca nAgarATa kuru parasAdaM deveza zamayAsya manò javarama ॥ 1-35-7 ॥

[बर] मयैवैतद वितीर्णं वै वचनं मनसामराः एलापत्रेण नागेन यद अस्याभिहितं पुरा ॥ १-३५-८ ॥

'Brahman responded, 'O immortals, I have considered your words in my mind. Let the king of the serpents carry out what was earlier conveyed to him by Elapatra. The time has come.' ॥ 1-35-8 ॥

[bara] mayaivaitada vitIrNaM vai vacanaM manasAmarAH elApatreNa nAgena yada asyAbhihitaM purA ॥ 1-35-8 ॥

तत करॊत्व एष नागेन्द्रः पराप्तकालं वचस तथा विनशिष्यन्ति ये पापा न तु ये धर्मचारिणः ॥ १-३५-९ ॥

'Let the king of serpents, following the timely words, carry out the task accordingly. Those who are wicked will perish, but not those who follow the path of righteousness.' ॥ 1-35-9 ॥

tata karòtva eSa nAgendraH parAptakAlaM vacasa tathA vinaziSyanti ye pApA na tu ye dharmacAriNaH ॥ 1-35-9 ॥

उत्पन्नः स जरत कारुस तपस्य उग्रे रतॊ दविजः तस्यैष भगिनीं काले जरत्कारुं परयच्छतु ॥ १-३५-१० ॥

'Jaratkaru has come into existence, deeply immersed in rigorous ascetic practices. When the opportune moment arrives, let Vasuki graciously offer his sister to him.' ॥ 1-35-10 ॥
