ततः सुपर्णः परमप्रहृष्टवान; विहृत्य मात्रा सह तत्र कानने भुजंगभक्षः परमार्चितः खगैर; अहीन कीर्तिर विनताम अनन्दयत ।। १-३०-२१ ।।

sanskrit

'Thus did the illustrious Garuda bring Amrita (from the heavens) for the snakes, and thus were the tongues of snakes divided by what Garuda did."Then the bird of fair feathers, very much delighted, enjoyed himself in those woods accompanied by his mother. Of grand achievements, and deeply reverenced by all rangers of the skies, he gratified his mother by devouring the snakes.' ।। 1-30-21 ।।

english translation

tataH suparNaH paramaprahRSTavAna; vihRtya mAtrA saha tatra kAnane bhujaMgabhakSaH paramArcitaH khagaira; ahIna kIrtira vinatAma anandayata || 1-30-21 ||

hk transliteration

इमां कथां यः शृणुयान नरः सदा; पठेत वा दविज जनमुख्यसंसदि असंशयं तरिदिवम इयात स पुण्यभान; महात्मनः पतगपतेः परकीर्तनात ।। १-३०-२२ ।।

sanskrit

'That man who would listen to this story, or read it out to an assembly of good Brahmanas, must surely go to heaven, acquiring great merit from the recitation of (the feats of) Garuda.' ।। 1-30-22 ।।

english translation

imAM kathAM yaH zRNuyAna naraH sadA; paTheta vA davija janamukhyasaMsadi asaMzayaM taridivama iyAta sa puNyabhAna; mahAtmanaH patagapateH parakIrtanAta || 1-30-22 ||
