स एवम उक्त उपाध्यायिन्या परातिष्ठतॊत्तङ्कः स पथि गच्छन्न अपश्यद ऋषभम अतिप्रमाणं तम अधिरूढं च पुरुषम अतिप्रमाणम एव ॥ १-३-१०१ ॥
'Utanka thus commanded, took his departure. And as he was passing along the road he saw a bull of extraordinary size and a man of uncommon stature mounted thereon.' ॥ 1-3-101 ॥
english translation
स पुरुष उत्तङ्कम अभ्यभाषत उत्तङ्कैतत पुरीषम अस्य ऋषभस्य भक्षस्वेति ॥ १-३-१०२ ॥
'And that man addressed Utanka and said, 'Eat thou of the dung of this bull.' ॥ 1-3-102 ॥

स एवम उक्तॊ नैच्छति ॥ १-३-१०३ ॥
'Utanka, however, was unwilling to comply.' ॥ 1-3-103 ॥

तम आह पुरुषॊ भूयः भक्षयस्वॊत्तङ्क मा विचारय उपाध्यायेनापि ते भक्षितं पूर्वम इति ॥ १-३-१०४ ॥
'The man said again, 'O Utanka, eat of it without scrutiny. Thy master ate of it before.' ॥ 1-3-104 ॥

स एवम उक्तॊ बाढम इत्य उक्त्वा तदा तद ऋषभस्य पुरीषं मूत्रं च भक्षयित्वॊत्तङ्कः परतस्थे यत्र स कषत्रियः पौष्यः ॥ १-३-१०५ ॥
'Having agreed to the task, Utanka consumed the dung and drank the urine of the bull. After this, he respectfully rose, washed his hands and mouth, and proceeded to the location of King Paushya.' ॥ 1-3-105 ॥
