तं वव्रे वाहनं कृष्णॊ गरुत्मन्तं महाबलम धवजं च चक्रे भगवान उपरि सथास्यसीति तम ॥ १-१९-१६ ॥
'Thus, Lord Vishnu, having possession of the six attributes, requested the mighty Garuda to become his mount, and he seated the bird atop the flagstaff of his chariot, declaring, 'In this manner, you shall remain above me.' ॥ 1-29-16 ॥
english translation
taM vavre vAhanaM kRSNò garutmantaM mahAbalama dhavajaM ca cakre bhagavAna upari sathAsyasIti tama ॥ 1-19-16 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअनुपत्य खगं तव इन्द्रॊ वज्रेणाङ्गे ऽभयताडयत विहंगमं सुरामित्रं हरन्तम अमृतं बलात ॥ १-१९-१७ ॥
'And the ranger of the skies, of great speed, saying unto Narayana, 'Be it so,' swiftly wended on his way, mocking the wind with his fleetness.' ॥ 1-29-17 ॥
english translation
anupatya khagaM tava indrò vajreNAGge 'bhayatADayata vihaMgamaM surAmitraM harantama amRtaM balAta ॥ 1-19-17 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतम उवाचेन्द्रम आक्रन्दे गरुडः पततां वरः परहसञ शलक्ष्णया वाचा तथा वज्रसमाहतः ॥ १-१९-१८ ॥
'And while that foremost of all rangers of the skies, that first of winged creatures, Garuda, was coursing through the air after wresting the Amrita, Indra hurled at him his thunderbolt.' ॥ 1-29-18 ॥
english translation
tama uvAcendrama Akrande garuDaH patatAM varaH parahasaJa zalakSNayA vAcA tathA vajrasamAhataH ॥ 1-19-18 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptऋषेर मानं करिष्यामि वज्रं यस्यास्थि संभवम वज्रस्य च करिष्यामि तव चैव शतक्रतॊ ॥ १-१९-१९ ॥
'Then Garuda, the lord of birds, struck with a thunderbolt, spake laughingly unto Indra engaged in the encounter, in sweet words, saying, 'I shall respect the Rishi (Dadhichi) of whose bone the Vajra hath been made.' ॥ 1-29-19 ॥
english translation
RSera mAnaM kariSyAmi vajraM yasyAsthi saMbhavama vajrasya ca kariSyAmi tava caiva zatakratò ॥ 1-19-19 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएष पत्रं तयजाम्य एकं यस्यान्तं नॊपलप्स्यसे न हि वज्रनिपातेन रुजा मे ऽसति कदा चन ॥ १-१९-२० ॥
'I shall also respect the Vajra, and thee also of a thousand sacrifices. I cast this feather of mine whose end thou shalt not attain. Struck with thy thunder I have not felt the slightest pain.' ॥ 1-29-20 ॥
english translation
eSa patraM tayajAmya ekaM yasyAntaM nòpalapsyase na hi vajranipAtena rujA me 'sati kadA cana ॥ 1-19-20 ॥
