भगवन कव विमुञ्चामि तरुशाखाम इमाम अहम वर्जितं बराह्मणैर देशम आख्यातु भगवान मम ॥ १-१६-१६ ॥

'O venerable one, where should I cast this branch of the tree? Kindly guide me to a region devoid of human presence.' ॥ 1-26-16 ॥

bhagavana kava vimuJcAmi taruzAkhAma imAma ahama varjitaM barAhmaNaira dezama AkhyAtu bhagavAna mama ॥ 1-16-16 ॥

ततॊ निष्पुरुषं शैलं हिमसंरुद्ध कन्दरम अगम्यं मनसाप्य अन्यैस तस्याचख्यौ स कश्यपः ॥ १-१६-१७ ॥

'Then Kasyapa spoke of a mountain without human beings with caves and dales always covered with snow and incapable of approach by ordinary creatures even in thought.' ॥ 1-26-17 ॥

tatò niSpuruSaM zailaM himasaMruddha kandarama agamyaM manasApya anyaisa tasyAcakhyau sa kazyapaH ॥ 1-16-17 ॥

तं पर्वत महाकुक्षिम आविश्य मनसा खगाः जवेनाभ्यपतत तार्क्ष्यः सशाखा गजकच्छपः ॥ १-१६-१८ ॥

'And the great bird bearing that branch, that elephant, and that tortoise, proceeded with great speed towards that mountain.' ॥ 1-26-18 ॥

taM parvata mahAkukSima Avizya manasA khagAH javenAbhyapatata tArkSyaH sazAkhA gajakacchapaH ॥ 1-16-18 ॥

न तां वध्रः परिणहेच छतचर्मा महान अणुः शाखिनॊ महतीं शाखां यां परगृह्य ययौ खगः ॥ १-१६-१९ ॥

'The great arm of the tree with which that bird of huge body flew away could not be girt round with a cord made of a hundred (cow) hides.' ॥ 1-26-19 ॥

na tAM vadhraH pariNaheca chatacarmA mahAna aNuH zAkhinò mahatIM zAkhAM yAM paragRhya yayau khagaH ॥ 1-16-19 ॥

ततः स शतसाहस्रं यॊजनान्तरम आगतः कालेन नातिमहता गरुडः पततां वरः ॥ १-१६-२० ॥

'Garuda, the lord of birds, then flew away for hundreds of thousands of yojanas within--the shortest time.' ॥ 1-26-20 ॥

tataH sa zatasAhasraM yòjanAntarama AgataH kAlena nAtimahatA garuDaH patatAM varaH ॥ 1-16-20 ॥
