तम उवाच खग शरेष्ठं तत्र रॊहिण पादपः अतिप्रवृद्धः सुमहान आपतन्तं मनॊजवम ॥ १-१५-३१ ॥
'A massive banyan tree, reaching colossal proportions, addressed the lord of birds (Rohini) who was approaching it with the swiftness of thought.' ॥ 1-25-31 ॥
english translation
tama uvAca khaga zareSThaM tatra ròhiNa pAdapaH atipravRddhaH sumahAna ApatantaM manòjavama ॥ 1-15-31 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयैषा मम महाशाखा शतयॊजनम आयता एताम आस्थाय शाखां तवं खादेमौ गजकच्छपौ ॥ १-१५-३२ ॥
'Rest upon this expansive branch of mine, spanning a hundred yojanas, and partake in consuming the elephant and the tortoise," the tree offered.' ॥ 1-25-32 ॥
english translation
yaiSA mama mahAzAkhA zatayòjanama AyatA etAma AsthAya zAkhAM tavaM khAdemau gajakacchapau ॥ 1-15-32 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततॊ दरुमं पतगसहस्रसेवितं; महीधर परतिमवपुः परकम्पयन खगॊत्तमॊ दरुतम अभिपत्य वेगवान; बभञ्ज ताम अविरल पत्रसंवृताम ॥ १-१५-३३ ॥
'When that best of birds, of great swiftness and body resembling a mountain, quickly alighted upon a bough of that banian tree, the resort of thousands of winged creatures-that bough also full of leaves shook and broke down.' ॥ 1-25-33 ॥

tatò darumaM patagasahasrasevitaM; mahIdhara paratimavapuH parakampayana khagòttamò darutama abhipatya vegavAna; babhaJja tAma avirala patrasaMvRtAma ॥ 1-15-33 ॥
