जरितारिः कथं पुत्रः सारिसृक्वः कथं च मे सतम्ब मित्रः कथं दरॊणः कथं सा च तपस्विनी ॥ १-२२४-६ ॥
'How is my son Jaritari? How is Sarisrikka? How is Stamvamitra? How is Drona? And how is their helpless mother?' ॥ 1-224-6 ॥
english translation
jaritAriH kathaM putraH sArisRkvaH kathaM ca me satamba mitraH kathaM daròNaH kathaM sA ca tapasvinI ॥ 1-224-6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptलालप्यमानं तम ऋषिं मन्दपालं तथा वने लपिता परत्युवाचेदं सासूयम इव भारत ॥ १-२२४-७ ॥
'To the Rishi Mandapala, weeping in the forest, Lapita, under the influence of jealousy, replied;' ॥ 1-224-7 ॥
english translation
lAlapyamAnaM tama RSiM mandapAlaM tathA vane lapitA paratyuvAcedaM sAsUyama iva bhArata ॥ 1-224-7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptन ते सुतेष्व अवेक्षास्ति तान ऋषीन उक्तवान असि तेजस्विनॊ वीर्यवन्तॊ न तेषां जवलनाद भयम ॥ १-२२४-८ ॥
'O Bharata, you need not worry for your children, who, as you have assured me, are all Rishis endowed with energy and prowess!' ॥ 1-224-8 ॥
english translation
na te suteSva avekSAsti tAna RSIna uktavAna asi tejasvinò vIryavantò na teSAM javalanAda bhayama ॥ 1-224-8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतथाग्नौ ते परीत्ताश च तवया हि मम संनिधौ परतिश्रुतं तथा चेति जवलनेन महात्मना ॥ १-२२४-९ ॥
'Thus they were tested in fire by you, indeed, in my presence. And so it was promised by the great-souled Fire (Agni).' ॥ 1-224-9 ॥
english translation
tathAgnau te parIttAza ca tavayA hi mama saMnidhau paratizrutaM tathA ceti javalanena mahAtmanA ॥ 1-224-9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptलॊकपालॊ ऽनृतां वाचं न तु वक्ता कथं चन समर्थास ते च वक्तारॊ न ते तेष्व अस्ति मानसम ॥ १-२२४-१० ॥
'Being one of the regents of the universe, Agni will never falsify his word. You have no reason for worry, nor is your heart inclined towards favoring friends.' ॥ 1-224-10 ॥

lòkapAlò 'nRtAM vAcaM na tu vaktA kathaM cana samarthAsa te ca vaktArò na te teSva asti mAnasama ॥ 1-224-10 ॥
