[वै] तथा शैलनिपातेन भीषिताः खाण्डवालयाः दानवा राक्षसा नागास तरक्ष्वृक्षवनौकसः दविपाः परभिन्नाः शार्दूलाः सिंहाः केसरिणस तथा ।। १-२१९-१ ।।

sanskrit

'Vaisampayana narrated, "Then, frightened by the falling stones and filled with extreme anxiety, the inhabitants of the Khandava forest—Danavas, Rakshasas, Nagas, wolves, bears, and other wild animals, elephants with torn temples, tigers, lions with flowing manes, deer, buffaloes by the hundreds, birds, and various other creatures—began to flee in all directions."' ।। 1-219-1 ।।

[vai] tathA zailanipAtena bhISitAH khANDavAlayAH dAnavA rAkSasA nAgAsa tarakSvRkSavanaukasaH davipAH parabhinnAH zArdUlAH siMhAH kesariNasa tathA || 1-219-1 ||
