अधिष्ठानवती लक्ष्मीः परायणवती मतिः बन्धुमान अखिलॊ धर्मस तेनासीत पृथिवीक्षिता ॥ १-२१४-६ ॥

'The earth was adorned with prosperity, enriched with profound wisdom, embraced with kinship, and entirely upheld by Dharma through him, the ruler.' ॥ 1-214-6 ॥

english translation

adhiSThAnavatI lakSmIH parAyaNavatI matiH bandhumAna akhilò dharmasa tenAsIta pRthivIkSitA ॥ 1-214-6 ॥

भरातृभिः सहितॊ राजा चतुर्भिर अधिकं बभौ परयुज्यमानैर विततॊ वेदैर इव महाध्वरः ॥ १-२१४-७ ॥

'And in the midst of and assisted by his four brothers, the king appeared more resplendent, akin to a great sacrifice supported by and assisted by the four Vedas.' ॥ 1-214-7 ॥

bharAtRbhiH sahitò rAjA caturbhira adhikaM babhau parayujyamAnaira vitatò vedaira iva mahAdhvaraH ॥ 1-214-7 ॥

तं तु धौम्यादयॊ विप्राः परिवार्यॊपतस्थिरे बृहस्पतिसमा मुख्याः परजापतिम इवामराः ॥ १-२१४-८ ॥

'Many learned Brahmanas, with Dhananjaya at their head, each resembling Vrihaspati, attended upon the monarch, akin to how celestials serve the Lord of creation.' ॥ 1-214-8 ॥

taM tu dhaumyAdayò viprAH parivAryòpatasthire bRhaspatisamA mukhyAH parajApatima ivAmarAH ॥ 1-214-8 ॥

धर्मराजे अतिप्रीत्या पूर्णचन्द्र इवामले परजानां रेमिरे तुल्यं नेत्राणि हृदयानि च ॥ १-२१४-९ ॥

'Due to overwhelming affection, the eyes and hearts of all the people equally took great delight in Yudhishthira, who shone like the unstained full moon.' ॥ 1-214-9 ॥

dharmarAje atiprItyA pUrNacandra ivAmale parajAnAM remire tulyaM netrANi hRdayAni ca ॥ 1-214-9 ॥

न तु केवलदैवेन परजा भावेन रेमिरे यद बभूव मनःकान्तं कर्मणा स चकार तत ॥ १-२१४-१० ॥

'The people took delight in him because he was their king and out of genuine affection. The king consistently acted in ways that pleased them.' ॥ 1-214-10 ॥

na tu kevaladaivena parajA bhAvena remire yada babhUva manaHkAntaM karmaNA sa cakAra tata ॥ 1-214-10 ॥
