ततः पश्यामहे सर्वा बराह्मणं संशितव्रतम रूपवन्तम अधीयानम एकम एकान्तचारिणम ॥ १-२०८-१६ ॥
'On our way, we encountered a Brahmana of rigorous vows, exceedingly handsome, absorbed in solitary study of the Vedas.' ॥ 1-208-16 ॥
english translation
तस्य वै तपसा राजंस तद वनं तेजसावृतम आदित्य इव तं देशं कृत्स्नं स वयवभासयत ॥ १-२०८-१७ ॥
'The entire forest where he sat appeared enveloped in his ascetic splendor, as if he himself had illuminated the entire region like the Sun.' ॥ 1-208-17 ॥
english translation
तस्य दृष्ट्वा तपस तादृग्रूपं चाद्भुतदर्शनम अवतीर्णाः सम तं देशं तपॊविघ्नचिकीर्षया ॥ १-२०८-१८ ॥
'Seeing his profound asceticism and extraordinary beauty, we approached that place with the intention to disrupt his meditation.' ॥ 1-208-18 ॥
english translation
अहं च सौरभेयी च समीची बुद्बुदा लता यौगपद्येन तं विप्रम अभ्यगच्छाम भारत ॥ १-२०८-१९ ॥
'Myself, Saurabheyi, Samichi, Vudvuda, and Lata—all approached that Brahmana simultaneously, O Bharata.' ॥ 1-208-19 ॥

गायन्त्यॊ वै हसन्त्यश च लॊभयन्त्यश च तं दविजम स च नास्मासु कृतवान मनॊ वीर कथं चन नाकम्पत महातेजाः सथितस तपसि निर्मले ॥ १-२०८-२० ॥
'We sang, smiled, and attempted to tempt that Brahmana youth. However, O hero, he did not once set his heart upon us. With his mind firmly fixed on pure meditation and his great energy, he did not allow his heart to waver. ' ॥ 1-208-20 ॥
