तस्माद बरवीमि वः सनेहात सर्वान भरतसत्तमान यथा वॊ नात्र भेदः सयात सर्वेषां दरौपदी कृते तथा कुरुत भद्रं वॊ मम चेत परियम इच्छथ ॥ १-२०४-२६ ॥

'Therefore, out of affection, I advise you, O foremost ones of Bharata's lineage, that if you wish to do something pleasing to me, arrange matters so that you do not quarrel among yourselves for the sake of Draupadi.' ॥ 1-204-26 ॥

english translation

tasmAda baravImi vaH sanehAta sarvAna bharatasattamAna yathA vò nAtra bhedaH sayAta sarveSAM daraupadI kRte tathA kuruta bhadraM vò mama ceta pariyama icchatha ॥ 1-204-26 ॥

[वै] एवम उक्ता महात्मानॊ नारदेन महर्षिणा समयं चक्रिरे राजंस ते ऽनयॊन्येन समागताः समक्षं तस्य देवर्षेर नारदस्यामितौजसः ॥ १-२०४-२७ ॥

'Vaisampayana continued, 'The illustrious Pandavas, thus advised by the great Rishi Narada, deliberated among themselves and established a pact in the presence of the celestial sage endowed with immeasurable energy.'' ॥ 1-204-27 ॥

english translation

[vai] evama uktA mahAtmAnò nAradena maharSiNA samayaM cakrire rAjaMsa te 'nayònyena samAgatAH samakSaM tasya devarSera nAradasyAmitaujasaH ॥ 1-204-27 ॥

दरौपद्या नः सहासीनम अन्यॊ ऽनयं यॊ ऽभिदर्शयेत स नॊ दवादश वर्षाणि बरह्म चारी वने वसेत ॥ १-२०४-२८ ॥

'And the agreement they reached was that if any one of them found another sitting alone with Draupadi, the observer must retire to the forest for twelve years, living as a celibate ascetic.' ॥ 1-204-28 ॥

daraupadyA naH sahAsInama anyò 'nayaM yò 'bhidarzayeta sa nò davAdaza varSANi barahma cArI vane vaseta ॥ 1-204-28 ॥

कृते तु समये तस्मिन पाण्डवैर धर्मचारिभिः नारदॊ ऽपय अगमत परीत इष्टं देशं महामुनिः ॥ १-२०४-२९ ॥

'After the virtuous Pandavas had established that rule among themselves, the great sage Narada, pleased with them, departed to his desired destination.' ॥ 1-204-29 ॥

kRte tu samaye tasmina pANDavaira dharmacAribhiH nAradò 'paya agamata parIta iSTaM dezaM mahAmuniH ॥ 1-204-29 ॥

एवं तैः समयः पूर्वं कृतॊ नरद चॊदितैः न चाभिद्यन्त ते सार्वे तदान्यॊन्येन भारत ॥ १-२०४-३० ॥

'Thus, O Janamejaya, urged by Narada, the Pandavas established a rule among themselves regarding their shared wife. It was for this reason, O Bharata, that no disputes ever arose between them.' ॥ 1-204-30 ॥
