तस्माद बरवीमि वः सनेहात सर्वान भरतसत्तमान यथा वॊ नात्र भेदः सयात सर्वेषां दरौपदी कृते तथा कुरुत भद्रं वॊ मम चेत परियम इच्छथ ।। १-२०४-२६ ।।

sanskrit

'Therefore, out of affection, I advise you, O foremost ones of Bharata's lineage, that if you wish to do something pleasing to me, arrange matters so that you do not quarrel among yourselves for the sake of Draupadi.' ।। 1-204-26 ।।

english translation

tasmAda baravImi vaH sanehAta sarvAna bharatasattamAna yathA vò nAtra bhedaH sayAta sarveSAM daraupadI kRte tathA kuruta bhadraM vò mama ceta pariyama icchatha || 1-204-26 ||

'Vaisampayana continued, 'The illustrious Pandavas, thus advised by the great Rishi Narada, deliberated among themselves and established a pact in the presence of the celestial sage endowed with immeasurable energy.'' ।। 1-204-27 ।।

[vai] evama uktA mahAtmAnò nAradena maharSiNA samayaM cakrire rAjaMsa te 'nayònyena samAgatAH samakSaM tasya devarSera nAradasyAmitaujasaH || 1-204-27 ||

'And the agreement they reached was that if any one of them found another sitting alone with Draupadi, the observer must retire to the forest for twelve years, living as a celibate ascetic.' ।। 1-204-28 ।।

'Thus, O Janamejaya, urged by Narada, the Pandavas established a rule among themselves regarding their shared wife. It was for this reason, O Bharata, that no disputes ever arose between them.' ।। 1-204-30 ।।
