[य] सुन्दॊपसुन्दाव असुरौ कस्य पुत्रौ महामुने उत्पन्नश च कथं भेदः कथं चान्यॊन्यम अघ्नताम ॥ १-२००-२१ ॥

sanskrit

'On hearing this, Yudhishthira asked, "O great Muni, whose sons were the Asuras named Sunda and Upasunda? From where did their discord originate, and what led them to slay each other?"' ॥ 1-200-21 ॥

english translation

[ya] sundòpasundAva asurau kasya putrau mahAmune utpannaza ca kathaM bhedaH kathaM cAnyònyama aghnatAma ॥ 1-200-21 ॥

अप्सरा देवकन्या वा कस्य चैषा तिलॊत्तमा यस्याः कामेन संमत्तौ जघ्नतुस तौ परस्परम ॥ १-२००-२२ ॥

sanskrit

'Was Tilottama an Apsara or a daughter of the gods? Whose (creation) was she, For whose desire the two became intoxicated and killed each other?' ॥ 1-200-22 ॥

english translation

apsarA devakanyA vA kasya caiSA tilòttamA yasyAH kAmena saMmattau jaghnatusa tau parasparama ॥ 1-200-22 ॥

एतत सर्वं यथावृत्तं विस्तरेण तपॊधन शरॊतुम इच्छामहे विप्र परं कौतूहलं हि नः ॥ १-२००-२३ ॥

'O venerable sage, endowed with ascetic wealth, we earnestly wish to hear in detail everything as it transpired. Our curiosity has indeed grown immensely.' ॥ 1-200-23 ॥

etata sarvaM yathAvRttaM vistareNa tapòdhana zaròtuma icchAmahe vipra paraM kautUhalaM hi naH ॥ 1-200-23 ॥
