अथर्चीकादयॊ ऽभयेत्य पितरॊ बराह्मणर्षभम तं कषमस्वेति सिषिधुस ततः स विरराम ह ॥ १-२-६ ॥
'Then, overcome with remorse, the illustrious Parashurama, the best among Brahmin sages, approached his ancestors and pleaded, 'Forgive me.' Subsequently, he came to a halt.'॥ 1-2-6 ॥
english translation
atharcIkAdayò 'bhayetya pitarò barAhmaNarSabhama taM kaSamasveti siSidhusa tataH sa virarAma ha ॥ 1-2-6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतेषां समीपे यॊ देशॊ हरदानां रुधिराम्भसाम समन्तपञ्चकम इति पुण्यं तत्परिकीर्तितम ॥ १-२-७ ॥
'The region that lieth near unto those lakes of gory water, from that time hath been celebrated as Samanta-panchaka the holy.'॥ 1-2-7 ॥
english translation
teSAM samIpe yò dezò haradAnAM rudhirAmbhasAma samantapaJcakama iti puNyaM tatparikIrtitama ॥ 1-2-7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयेन लिङ्गेन यॊ देशॊ युक्तः समुपलक्ष्यते तेनैव नाम्ना तं देशं वाच्यम आहुर मनीषिणः ॥ १-२-८ ॥
'The wise have declared that every country should be distinguished by a name significant of some circumstance which may have rendered it famous.'॥ 1-2-8 ॥

yena liGgena yò dezò yuktaH samupalakSyate tenaiva nAmnA taM dezaM vAcyama Ahura manISiNaH ॥ 1-2-8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअन्तरे चैव संप्राप्ते कलिद्वापरयॊर अभूत समन्तपञ्चके युद्धं कुरुपाण्डवसेनयॊः ॥ १-२-९ ॥
'In the interval between the Dwapara and the Kali Yugas happened at Samanta-panchaka the encounter between the armies of the Kauravas and the Pandavas.'॥ 1-2-9 ॥

antare caiva saMprApte kalidvAparayòra abhUta samantapaJcake yuddhaM kurupANDavasenayòH ॥ 1-2-9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्मिन परमधर्मिष्ठे देशे भूदॊषवर्जिते अष्टादश समाजग्मुर अक्षौहिण्यॊ युयुत्सया ॥ १-२-१० ॥
'In that holy region, without ruggedness of any kind, were assembled eighteen Akshauhinis of soldiers eager for battle.'॥ 1-2-10 ॥
