पर्वॊक्तं भगवद गीता पर्व भीस्म वधस ततः दरॊणाभिषेकः पर्वॊक्तं संशप्तक वधस ततः ॥ १-२-५६ ॥
'Then comes the 'Bhagavat-gita'; and then the death of Bhishma. Then the installation of Drona; then the destruction of the 'Sansaptakas'. '॥ 1-2-56 ॥
english translation
अभिमन्युवधः पर्व परतिज्ञा पर्व चॊच्यते जयद्रथवधः पर्व घटॊत्कच वधस ततः ॥ १-२-५७ ॥
'The episode of Abhimanyu's demise is called the Abhimanyuvadha Parva, and the subsequent episode is known as the Paratijna Parva.Following that is the episode of Jayadratha's fall, and then the slaying of Ghatotkacha'. ॥ 1-2-57 ॥

ततॊ दरॊण वधः पर्व विज्ञेयं लॊमहर्षणम मॊक्षॊ नारायणास्त्रस्य पर्वानन्तरम उच्यते ॥ १-२-५८ ॥
'Then, must you know, comes the story of the death of Drona of surprising interest. The next that comes is called the discharge of the weapon called Narayana.' ॥ 1-2-58 ॥

कर्ण पर्व ततॊ जञेयं शल्य पर्व ततः परम हरद परवेशनं पर्व गदायुद्धम अतः परम ॥ १-२-५९ ॥
'Following that is the episode known as the Karna Parva, and then the Shalya Parva. Subsequently, there is the narrative of Harad Parveshana Parva, and beyond that, the battle involving the mace.' ॥ 1-2-59 ॥

सारस्वतं ततः पर्व तीर्थवंशगुणान्वितम अत ऊर्ध्वं तु बीभत्सं पर्व सौप्तिकम उच्यते ॥ १-२-६० ॥
'Then comes Saraswata, and then the descriptions of holy shrines, and then genealogies. Then comes Sauptika describing incidents disgraceful (to the honor of the Kurus).' ॥ 1-2-60 ॥
