एतत सुबहु वृत्तान्तं पञ्चमं पर्व भारते उद्यॊगपर्व निर्दिष्टं संधिविग्रहसंश्रितम ॥ १-२-१५१ ॥

' These all have been described in the fifth Parva called Udyoga of the Bharata, abounding with incidents appertaining to war and peace.' ॥ 1-2-151 ॥

अध्यायाः संख्यया तव अत्र षड अशीति शतं समृतम शलॊकानां षट सहस्राणि तावन्त्य एव शतानि च ॥ १-२-१५२ ॥

' Esteemed ascetics, the illustrious Vyasa has crafted one hundred and eighty-six sections in this Parva. The total number of verses composed by the great sage in this segment amounts to six thousand, six hundred, and ninety-eight.' ॥ 1-2-152 ॥

शलॊकाश च नवतिः परॊक्तास तथैवाष्टौ महात्मना वयासेनॊदार मतिना पर्वण्य अस्मिंस तपॊधनाः ॥ १-२-१५३ ॥

' In this sacred section, the noble sage Vyasa has eloquently conveyed his wisdom through ninety-nine verses. Similarly, the revered ascetic, endowed with profound insight, has graced this Parva with eight verses.' ॥ 1-2-153 ॥

अत ऊर्ध्वं विचित्रार्थं भीष्म पर्व परचक्षते जम्बू खण्ड विनिर्माणं यत्रॊक्तं संजयेन ह ॥ १-२-१५४ ॥

' Then is recited the Bhishma Parva replete with wonderful incidents. In this hath been narrated by Sanjaya the formation of the region known as Jambu' ॥ 1-2-154 ॥
