[वयास] पुरा वै नैमिषारण्ये देवाः सत्रम उपासते तत्र वैवस्वतॊ राजञ शामित्रम अकरॊत तदा ॥ १-१८९-१ ॥
'Vaisampayana said, "Vyasa continued, 'Long ago, the celestial beings initiated a grand sacrifice in the forest of Naimisha. During that ritual, O king, Yama, the son of Vivaswat, undertook the role of sacrificing the dedicated animals.' ॥ 1-189-1 ॥
