[वै] तत आहूय पाञ्चाल्यॊ राजपुत्रं युधिष्ठिरम परिग्रहेण बराह्मेण परिगृह्य महाद्युतिः ॥ १-१८७-१ ॥
'Vaisampayana said, Then, summoning Yudhishthira, the prince of the Panchalas, with great respect, the illustrious Drupada welcomed him with suitable hospitality.' ॥ 1-187-1 ॥
english translation
[vai] tata AhUya pAJcAlyò rAjaputraM yudhiSThirama parigraheNa barAhmeNa parigRhya mahAdyutiH ॥ 1-187-1 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपर्यपृच्छद अदीनात्मा कुन्तीपुत्रं सुवर्चसम कथं जानीम भवतः कषत्रियान बराह्मणान उत ॥ १-१८७-२ ॥
'He inquired of the illustrious son of Kunti with an undepressed spirit, Should we regard you as Kshatriyas, or Brahmanas?"' ॥ 1-187-2 ॥

paryapRcchada adInAtmA kuntIputraM suvarcasama kathaM jAnIma bhavataH kaSatriyAna barAhmaNAna uta ॥ 1-187-2 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवैश्यान वा गुणसंपन्नान उत वा शूद्रयॊनिजान मायाम आस्थाय वा सिद्धांश चरतः सर्वतॊदिशम ॥ १-१८७-३ ॥
'Whether they are affluent and virtuous, or born from a lowly womb, Devoted to me with firm faith, they all tread the highest path.' ॥ 1-187-3 ॥
english translation
vaizyAna vA guNasaMpannAna uta vA zUdrayònijAna mAyAma AsthAya vA siddhAMza carataH sarvatòdizama ॥ 1-187-3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकृष्णा हेतॊर अनुप्राप्तान दिवः संदर्शनार्थिनः बरवीतु नॊ भवान सत्यं संदेहॊ हय अत्र नॊ महान ॥ १-१८७-४ ॥
'Are we to understand that you are celestial beings disguising yourselves as Brahmanas, wandering the earth and here seeking Krishna's hand? Please tell us truthfully, for we have significant doubts!' ॥ 1-187-4 ॥

kRSNA hetòra anuprAptAna divaH saMdarzanArthinaH baravItu nò bhavAna satyaM saMdehò haya atra nò mahAna ॥ 1-187-4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअपि नः संशयस्यान्ते मनस्तुष्टिर इहाविशेत अपि नॊ भागधेयानि शुभानि सयुः परंतप ॥ १-१८७-५ ॥
'May peace and satisfaction enter our minds at the end of this dilemma. O Supreme Lord, may auspicious fortunes befall us.' ॥ 1-187-5 ॥
