कच चित सवर्ण परवरॊ मनुष्य; उद्रिक्त वर्कॊ ऽपय उत वेह कच चित कच चिन न वामॊ मम मूर्ध्नि पादः; कृष्णाभिमर्शेन कृतॊ ऽदय पुत्र ॥ १-१८४-१६ ॥
'Has any Kshatriya of high birth, or anyone of the superior order (Brahmana), taken my daughter? Has anyone of low descent, by winning Krishna, placed his left foot on my head?' ॥ 1-184-16 ॥
english translation
कच चिच च यक्ष्ये परमप्रप्रीतः; संयुज्य पार्थेन नरर्षभेण बरवीहि तत्त्वेन महानुभावः; कॊ ऽसौ विजेता दुहितुर ममाद्य ॥ १-१८४-१७ ॥
'I would not grieve, O son, but would feel greatly happy if my daughter has been united with Partha, that foremost of men! O exalted one, tell me truly, who has won my daughter today?' ॥ 1-184-17 ॥

विचित्रवीर्यस्य तु कच चिद अद्य; कुरुप्रवीरस्य धरन्ति पुत्राः कच चित तु पार्थेन यवीयसाद्य; धनुर गृहीतं निहतं च लक्ष्यम ॥ १-१८४-१८ ॥
'Are the sons of that foremost of Kurus, Vichitravirya's son, still alive? Was it Partha (Arjuna) who took up the bow and hit the target?' ॥ 1-184-18 ॥
