न च तद्विद्यते किं चित कर्म लॊकेषु यद भवेत बराह्मणानाम असाध्यं च तरिषु संस्थान चारिषु ।। १-१७९-११ ।।

sanskrit

'Moreover, there is nothing in all three worlds that Brahmanas cannot achieve among mortal men.' ।। 1-179-11 ।।

english translation

na ca tadvidyate kiM cita karma lòkeSu yada bhaveta barAhmaNAnAma asAdhyaM ca tariSu saMsthAna cAriSu || 1-179-11 ||

hk transliteration

अब्भक्षा वायुभक्षाश च फलाहारा दृढव्रताः दुर्बला हि बलीयांसॊ विप्रा हि बरह्मतेजसाः ।। १-१७९-१२ ।।

sanskrit

'Abstaining from all food, or subsisting on air or fruits, and steadfast in their vows, Brahmanas, though emaciated and seemingly weak, are always strong in their inner strength.' ।। 1-179-12 ।।

english translation

abbhakSA vAyubhakSAza ca phalAhArA dRDhavratAH durbalA hi balIyAMsò viprA hi barahmatejasAH || 1-179-12 ||

hk transliteration

बराह्मणॊ नावमन्तव्यः सद वासद वा समाचरन सुखं दुःखं महद धरस्वं कर्म यत समुपागतम ।। १-१७९-१३ ।।

sanskrit

'One should never underestimate a Brahmana, whether his actions are right or wrong, by assuming him incapable of accomplishing any task, be it great or small, bringing either joy or sorrow.' ।। 1-179-13 ।।

english translation

barAhmaNò nAvamantavyaH sada vAsada vA samAcarana sukhaM duHkhaM mahada dharasvaM karma yata samupAgatama || 1-179-13 ||

hk transliteration

एवं तेषां विलपतां विप्राणां विविधा गिरः अर्जुनॊ धनुषॊ ऽभयाशे तस्थौ गिरिर इवाचलः ।। १-१७९-१४ ।।

sanskrit

'The Brahmanas continued to speak these and other words to one another. Then Arjuna approached the bow and stood there like an unmovable mountain.' ।। 1-179-14 ।।

english translation

evaM teSAM vilapatAM viprANAM vividhA giraH arjunò dhanuSò 'bhayAze tasthau girira ivAcalaH || 1-179-14 ||

hk transliteration

स तद धनुः परिक्रम्य परदक्षिणम अथाकरॊत परणम्य शिरसा हृष्टॊ जगृहे च परंतपः ।। १-१७९-१५ ।।

sanskrit

'Walking around the bow, bending his head in reverence to the bestower of blessings, Lord Ishana, and recalling Krishna, he lifted it.' ।। 1-179-15 ।।

english translation

sa tada dhanuH parikramya paradakSiNama athAkaròta paraNamya zirasA hRSTò jagRhe ca paraMtapaH || 1-179-15 ||
