आयुषा हि परकृष्टेन यदा नः खेद आविशत तदास्माभिर वधस तात कषत्रियैर ईप्सितः सवयम ॥ १-१७०-१६ ॥
'O child, when we grew weary of the long lives allotted to us, we sought our own destruction through the agency of the Kshatriyas.' ॥ 1-170-16 ॥
english translation
AyuSA hi parakRSTena yadA naH kheda Avizata tadAsmAbhira vadhasa tAta kaSatriyaira IpsitaH savayama ॥ 1-170-16 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनिखातं तद धि वै वित्तं केन चिद भृगुवेश्मनि वैरायैव तदा नयस्तं कषत्रियान कॊपयिष्णुभिः किं हि वित्तेन नः कार्यं सवर्गेप्सूनां दविजर्षभ ॥ १-१७०-१७ ॥
'The wealth that the Bhrigus had buried in their house was placed solely to provoke the Kshatriyas and incite conflict with them. O best of Brahmanas, as we were striving for heaven, what use did we have for wealth?' ॥ 1-170-17 ॥
english translation
nikhAtaM tada dhi vai vittaM kena cida bhRguvezmani vairAyaiva tadA nayastaM kaSatriyAna kòpayiSNubhiH kiM hi vittena naH kAryaM savargepsUnAM davijarSabha ॥ 1-170-17 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयदा तु मृत्युर आदातुं न नः शक्नॊति सर्वशः तदास्माभिर अयं दृष्ट उपायस तात संमतः ॥ १-१७०-१८ ॥
'But when death cannot take everything from us completely, then this seen way, O father, is approved by us.' ॥ 1-170-18 ॥

yadA tu mRtyura AdAtuM na naH zaknòti sarvazaH tadAsmAbhira ayaM dRSTa upAyasa tAta saMmataH ॥ 1-170-18 ॥
hk transliteration by SanscriptThose who commit suicide never attain blessed realms- Reflecting on this, we refrained from self-destruction-

hk transliteration by Sanscriptन चैतन नः परियं तात यद इदं कर्तुम इच्छसि नियच्छेदं मनः पापात सर्वलॊकपराभवात ॥ १-१७०-२० ॥
'Therefore, what you desire to do is not acceptable to us. Therefore, restrain your mind from the sinful act of destroying the entire world.' ॥ 1-170-20 ॥

na caitana naH pariyaM tAta yada idaM kartuma icchasi niyacchedaM manaH pApAta sarvalòkaparAbhavAta ॥ 1-170-20 ॥
