आयुषा हि परकृष्टेन यदा नः खेद आविशत तदास्माभिर वधस तात कषत्रियैर ईप्सितः सवयम ।। १-१७०-१६ ।।

'O child, when we grew weary of the long lives allotted to us, we sought our own destruction through the agency of the Kshatriyas.' ।। 1-170-16 ।।

AyuSA hi parakRSTena yadA naH kheda Avizata tadAsmAbhira vadhasa tAta kaSatriyaira IpsitaH savayama || 1-170-16 ||

'The wealth that the Bhrigus had buried in their house was placed solely to provoke the Kshatriyas and incite conflict with them. O best of Brahmanas, as we were striving for heaven, what use did we have for wealth?' ।। 1-170-17 ।।

english translation

nikhAtaM tada dhi vai vittaM kena cida bhRguvezmani vairAyaiva tadA nayastaM kaSatriyAna kòpayiSNubhiH kiM hi vittena naH kAryaM savargepsUnAM davijarSabha || 1-170-17 ||

'Therefore, what you desire to do is not acceptable to us. Therefore, restrain your mind from the sinful act of destroying the entire world.' ।। 1-170-20 ।।
