दृष्ट्वा तन महद आश्चर्यं बरह्मतेजॊ भवं तदा विश्वामित्रः कषत्रभावान निर्विण्णॊ वाक्यम अब्रवीत ॥ १-१६५-४१ ॥

'Upon witnessing this remarkable display of Brahminical prowess, Viswamitra grew disillusioned with the valor of the Kshatriyas and remarked:' ॥ 1-165-41 ॥

dRSTvA tana mahada AzcaryaM barahmatejò bhavaM tadA vizvAmitraH kaSatrabhAvAna nirviNNò vAkyama abravIta ॥ 1-165-41 ॥

धिग बलं कषत्रियबलं बरह्मतेजॊबलं बलम बलाबलं विनिश्चित्य तप एव परं बलम ॥ १-१६५-४२ ॥

'Alas, the might of the Kshatriyas is nothing compared to the true prowess of the Brahmins! When discerning strength and weakness, it is clear to me that asceticism embodies true strength.' ॥ 1-165-42 ॥

dhiga balaM kaSatriyabalaM barahmatejòbalaM balama balAbalaM vinizcitya tapa eva paraM balama ॥ 1-165-42 ॥

स राज्यस्फीतम उत्सृज्य तां च दीप्तां नृप शरियम भॊगांश च पृष्ठतः कृत्वा तपस्य एव मनॊ दधे ॥ १-१६५-४३ ॥

'He then relinquished his shattered kingdom and that blazing royal arrow, placing the joys of sovereignty behind him, and embraced the path of austerity alone.' ॥ 1-165-43 ॥

sa rAjyasphItama utsRjya tAM ca dIptAM nRpa zariyama bhògAMza ca pRSThataH kRtvA tapasya eva manò dadhe ॥ 1-165-43 ॥

स गत्वा तपसा सिद्धिं लॊकान विष्टभ्य तेजसा तताप सर्वान दीप्तौजा बराह्मणत्वम अवाप च अपिवच च सुतं सॊमम इन्द्रेण सह कौशिकः ॥ १-१६५-४४ ॥

'Having attained perfection in asceticism and radiating the fervor of his penance throughout the three worlds, he afflicted all beings and ultimately ascended to the status of a Brahmin. Finally, the son of Kusika, in the end, shared Soma with Indra himself in the celestial realms.' ॥ 1-165-44 ॥

sa gatvA tapasA siddhiM lòkAna viSTabhya tejasA tatApa sarvAna dIptaujA barAhmaNatvama avApa ca apivaca ca sutaM sòmama indreNa saha kauzikaH ॥ 1-165-44 ॥
