तेषाम अमृतवीर्याणां रसानां पयसैव च अमरत्वं सुरा जग्मुः काञ्चनस्य च निःस्रवात ॥ १-१६-२६ ॥
'And the celestials attained immortality by drinking of the water mixed with those gums and with the liquid extract of gold.' ॥ 1-16-26 ॥
english translation
teSAma amRtavIryANAM rasAnAM payasaiva ca amaratvaM surA jagmuH kAJcanasya ca niHsravAta ॥ 1-16-26 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ तस्य समुद्रस्य तज जातम उदकं पयः रसॊत्तमैर विमिश्रं च ततः कषीराद अभूद घृतम ॥ १-१६-२७ ॥
'By degrees, the milky water of the agitated deep turned into clarified butter by those gums and juices. But nectar did not appear even then.' ॥ 1-16-26 ॥
english translation
atha tasya samudrasya taja jAtama udakaM payaH rasòttamaira vimizraM ca tataH kaSIrAda abhUda ghRtama ॥ 1-16-27 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततॊ बरह्माणम आसीनं देवा वरदम अब्रुवन शरान्ताः सम सुभृशं बरह्मन नॊद्भवत्य अमृतं च तत ॥ १-१६-२८ ॥
'The gods came before the boon granting Brahman seated on his seat and said, 'Sire, we are spent up, we have no strength left to churn further. Nectar hath not yet arisen so that now we have no resource save Narayana.' ॥ 1-16-28 ॥
english translation
tatò barahmANama AsInaM devA varadama abruvana zarAntAH sama subhRzaM barahmana nòdbhavatya amRtaM ca tata ॥ 1-16-28 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptऋते नारायणं देवं दैत्या नागॊत्तमास तथा चिरारब्धम इदं चापि सागरस्यापि मन्थनम ॥ १-१६-२९ ॥
'When the churning of the ocean began, the demons and the best of serpents addressed the god Narayana thus, 'O Lord, this process of churning the ocean has been initiated for a long time, and it is also taking place in the ocean.' ॥ 1-16-29 ॥
english translation
Rte nArAyaNaM devaM daityA nAgòttamAsa tathA cirArabdhama idaM cApi sAgarasyApi manthanama ॥ 1-16-29 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततॊ नारायणं देवं बरह्मा वचनम अब्रवीत विधत्स्वैषां बलं विष्णॊ भवान अत्र परायणम ॥ १-१६-३० ॥
'On hearing them, Brahman said to Narayana, 'O Lord, condescend to grant the gods strength to churn the deep afresh.' ॥ 1-16-30 ॥

tatò nArAyaNaM devaM barahmA vacanama abravIta vidhatsvaiSAM balaM viSNò bhavAna atra parAyaNama ॥ 1-16-30 ॥
